Hello Phonograph Enthusiasts,

While traveling recently, my wife and I ran across an old phonograph that had been in a B&B for years. We were offered the chance to buy it and we did! It is an Edison S19 with about 20 records and the oroginal Oiler and a small Carmex sized container of grease. The machine plays wonderfully and sounds spectacular, but i notice a little bit of noise (a dull mechanical growl coming from under the turntable when it is running. I am new to the world of old phonographs and want to do all I can to preserve this wonderful piece of history. I am looking for any available resources on the care/repair and maintance of this machine and for the records themselves. Does anyone have any recomendations?

Two references in my library that I recommend:

Ron Dethlefson - Edison Blue Amberol Recordings 1915-1929 (if you can find it as it's out of print, but Ron has told me he is trying to get his books into the digital domain and available again.)

Allan Sutton - Edison Blue Amberol Cylinders - published by Mainspring Press and currently available. This book lists every Amberol cylinder recording made, whether it got out of the factory and into the public's hands or not, while Ron's book mostly draws from actual record (cylinder) catalogs.

I have a fully working Edison Phonograph. Almost MINT condition. There is a corner that has a small chip in it (Small, but on top of the lid) Everything works and nothing is missing!

I have to part with it although I must admit it's my prized piece in my apartment.

I'm looking to sell it for $1,200 or best offer. I have photos of the ID plate, the wood inlay of the logo "Edison" on the inside lid. If you come over to view it I will not hesitate to show you that it works.

Please only serious inquires!
